INFILTRATION AFTER KARGIL WAR


As per the available records in Army headquarters, ten officers fifteen Junior Commissioned Officers and 202 Other Ranks were killed due to enemy action on Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border in Jammu & Kashmir after Kargil conflict.

After the Kargil war, 497 attempts at infiltration and exfiltration have been foiled on the LoC and International Border in Jammu & Kashmir by the Army and Rashtriya Rifles.

Adequate military measures are taken to check terrorist initiated violence Jammu & Kashmir. These include a multi-pronged proactive approach to effectively counter infiltration and conduct synergised counter proxy war operations in the hinterland. Alongwith extensive domination patrols to sanitise the area, operations are also being launched to specifically target foreign terrorists.

This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written reply to Shri N N Krishnadas in Lok Sabha today.
