FUNDS RELEASED TO EAST GODAVARI DISTRICT
OF ANDHRA PRADESH FOR DRINKING
WATER PROJECT
The Ministry of Rural Development has released
Rs. 374 lakh to East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh for Rural
Drinking water. This is the first installment of funds for the
year 2002-03, under Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission,
to the district under sector reforms pilot project. Sector reforms
project is to institutionalise community participation in Rural
Water Supply programme. The first installment has been released
out of the Central share of Rs. 3740 lakh against the total approved
project cost of Rs. 4000 lakh.
The Ministry has also released first installment
of Rs. 40.06 lakh to Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD)
Board, Chennai to provide safe drinking water to 160 brackish
affected habitations in the State under Sub-Mission project. With
this, the Government of India share towards the project of Rs.
480.12 lakh stands released.
Total cost of the project is Rs. 640.16 lakh.
