DECLINE IN TURNOVER OF CCICI LTD.
The Central Cottage
Industries Corporation of India Ltd. Registered a turnover of
Rs. 53.30 crore in the financial year 2001-2002 against a turnover
of Rs. 57.41 crore in the financial year 2000-2001, registering
a decline of Rs. 4.11 crores.
The
decline is attributable inter-alia to a sharp fall in the number
of foreign tourists, due to a slow down in the global economy
during the year, the terrorist attacks in USA on September 11th
etc.
The
Corporation has been continuously making efforts to increase its
turnover, which include action to:-
- reach out to larger domestic
common merchandising through sale exhibitions organised all
over the country;
- start retail
outlets through franchise;
- expand activities
relating to design development, garment production, interior
decoration and related activities;
- increase
publicity of its products in the national and international
markets.
This
was stated by the Minister
of
Textiles,
Shri Kashiram Rana in
the
Rajya Sabha today.
