TWO DAYS EIGHTH
NATIONAL LEVEL MEETING BETWEEN INDIA AND MYANMAR CONCLUDES
The Eighth National Level Meeting between India and Myanmar to
discuss security, border trade and other issues of mutual concern
concluded in New Delhi on 11th July, 2002 with the
signing of Agreed Minutes. The Myanmar delegation was led by Brig.
Gen. Thura Myint Maung, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Home Affairs,
Government of Union Myanmar. The Indian delegation was led by
Shri Kamal Pande, Union Home Secretary.
Brig. Gen. Thura Myint Maung met Deputy Prime Minister, Shri
L.K. Advani and Minister of State for Ministry of External Affairs,
Shri Digvijay Singh, here today.
The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. It provided
both countries with an opportunity to interact on a wide range
of issues on security related matters especially ones relating
to control of militancy and border management issues besides reviewing
the progress of a wide range of cross border development projects.
