PM CONDOLES THE DEATH OF SHRI DHIRUBHAI AMBANI

The Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee has expressed deep shock and grief over the death of leading industrialist Shri Dhirubhai Ambai. In his message, the Prime Minister said:

"I am filled with profound grief at the demise of Shri Dhirubhai Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd., in Mumbai last night.

In Shri Ambani’s passing away, our country has lost an iconic proof of what an ordinary Indian fired by the spirit of enterprise and driven by determination, can achieve in his own lifetime. Not only did he build a large and diversified business conglomerate which greatly strengthened India’s industrial base, but he also inspired many first-generation entrepreneurs with his success. To him goes the credit of envisioning the creation of world-class capacities in core areas of our infrastructure in the private sector, and translating that vision into a reality in record time.

I send my heartfelt condolences to his wife, Shrimati Kokilaben, sons Mukesh and Anil, and other members of the bereaved family."
