RSP'S FIRST QUARTER SALES UP 39 PER CENT


Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) of the Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL), has produced 4,08,752 tonnes of Hot Metal, 3,54,030 tonnes of Crude Steel and 3,74,750 tonnes of Saleable Steel during the first quarter of the present fiscal and has crossed all the previous first quarter records. It has registered 19, 12 and 15 per cent growth in the above categories respectively. This is also the highest growth among all the SAIL plants.

The Plant despatched 1,79,093 tonnes of hot rolled coils which is a remarkable 71 per cent rise over the corresponding period last year. It has also registered 61 per cent growth in despatch of hot rolled plates and sheets, 51 per cent in tin plates, 40 per cent in CRNO, 19 per cent in Plate Mill products, 15 per cent in cold rolled coils and strips and 13 per cent growth in the despatch of galvanised sheets. The overall growth in despatch of saleable steel was as high as 39 per cent, representing the highest growth among all the SAIL steel plants.

RSP's continuous endeavours at reducing the cost of production by improving operating parameters have yielded results by way of appreciable reductions in energy consumption, down 3.2 per cent and in coke rate down 10.6 per cent from the levels achieved during last year.
