A.K.MOORTHY TAKES OVER AS MINISTER OF STATE FOR RAILWAYS


Shri A.K.Moorthy has taken over as Minister of State for Railways, here today. After the formal taking over ceremony, the new Minister called on the Railway Minister Shri Nitish Kumar and discussed different aspects of Indian Railways, Shri Moorthy has also reviewed the working of Railways with Chairman Railway Board, Shri I.I.M.S. Rana and other Board Members.

Later talking to the Media Shri Moorthy said that he will strengthen the hands of the Railway Minister Shri Nitish Kumar in improving the financial health of Railways and making the system more and more passenger-friendly. Pending projects pertaining to Tamil Nadu will be taken up on priority basis, the Minister added.

Born on 1964 at Villipuram District, Tamil Nadu, Shri Moorthy represents Chengalpattu constituency in Lok Sabha. He has served as Member of different Parliamentary Consultative Committees. A Post Graduate in Economics and first time Member of Parliament Shri Moorthy has been elected to the 13th Lok Sabha on behalf of the Pattali Makkal Kakshi (PMK) in 1999.
