SHRIPAD NAIK TAKES OVER AS MOS CIVIL
AVIATION
Shri Shripad Yasso Naik today took over as the Minister of State
for Civil Aviation. Shri Naik was earlier the Minister of State
for Agriculture and Minister of State for Shipping.
Shri Naik who hails from Goa, was elected to the 13th
Lok Sabha from Panaji Constituency. He assumed the charge of Minister
of State for Agriculture on 30th September, 2000 and
held that charge until 2nd November, 2001, when he
was made the Minister of State for Shipping. He continued as Minister
of State for Shipping till 14th May 2002. Shri Naik
was also a member of Goa Legislative Assembly from 1994 to 1999.
Speaking to media persons after taking over Shri Naik said that
customer satisfaction should be the motto of the organizations
under his Ministry. He said, he would lay emphasis on providing
high class facilities at the airports.
Talking about Goa, the Minister said, he would like work on the
proposed international airport to be expedited, site for which
has been identified at Mopa in North Goa. He said, there is a
close linkage between Civil Aviation and Tourism and economic
prosperity of Goa can be brought about through promotion of tourism
and aviation.
