RADIO CONTROL OF RAW MATERIAL HANDLING IN SAIL PLANT

A radio control system, the first of its kind has been commissioned in stacker-1 of Bhillai Steel Plant (BSP)’s Ore Handling Plant. The new installation has replaced the earlier conventional control cable reeling drum arrangement. Interlocking between conveyor of Stacker No.1 and the yard conveyor will now be done with the help of radio signals.

The new system will be cost effective and facilitate reduction in downtime of stacker, manpower utilization, increase in availability and reliability of stacker and major electrical energy savings. It will also help better blending and improvement in quality of raw material despatched to the consumer shops.
