SOME FACTS ABOUT NITRA

    Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) situated in Ghaziabad is one of the four textile research associations which are located in different parts of the country. It is the only ISO 9001 accredited textile research organisation in the country. NITRA was established in 1975 and is linked to the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It also recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India.

    NITRA is for carrying out scientific research in the field of textiles as well as for promoting and fostering scientific research studies to extend the knowledge related to textile industry. It also renders services to the centralized as well as decentralized sector through eight Power Loom Service Centres (PLSC) under its aegis.

NITRA’s Mission

    NITRA is an optimum mix of services offered such as training, testing, counselling and solving other operational problems faced by Garment Industry to sustain in the post quota regime and to boost up exports. Being backed by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India its charges are not profit driven. It offers concessional services/charges for bulk users.

    NITRA has five laboratories for testing of textiles, dyes, chemicals and effluents at Head Office, Ghaziabad along with a comprehensive Pilot Plant and CAD centre. Power Loom Service Centres in Bhilwara, Panipat & Meerut have sophisticated textile testing labs. CAD facilities can also be availed at Bhilwara & Panipat Centres.

    A larger number of textile mills and export oriented units (EOUs) located in major textile centres in India and abroad avail of the services of NITRA. Various Central and State Government organisations also utilize the testing facilities and other services of NITRA.
