RS. 258.11 LAKH RELEASED FOR WASTELANDS DEVELOPMENT
The Ministry of Rural Development has released total amount of Rs.258.11 lakh under Integrated Wasteland Development Programme (Employment Assurance Scheme Watershed Component) to four States during the year 2001-02. These four States are :-

The objective of Integrated Wasteland Development Programme (IWDP) is to develop wastelands based on village/micro watershed plans. This programme takes up activities like soil and moisture conservation measures, afforestation measures, agro-forestry and horticulture, dissemination of technology, training, extension and creation of greater awareness and fuel wood conservation measures.
In addition to this, the Ministry has also released Rs.2.75 lakh, to "Suryavanam", Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, to develop the Wastelands into Horticulture Farm under the Investment Promotional Scheme (IPS) of the Department of Land Resources.
