THE CRPF IS TO PROJECT THE YOUNG PROFILE OF THE FORCE IN THE REPUBLIC DAY PARADE THIS YEAR

    The CRPF will participate in this year’s Republic Day parade with its full strength and geared to project the young profile of the force. The Central Reserve Police Force one of the premier Para-military forces of the Nation have the proud privilege of fielding three contingents comprising of CRPF "Mahila Contingent" "Male Contingent" and a "Brass Band Contingent" in the Republic Day Parade, 2002. The first contingent from CRPF will be of 144 strong CRPF Mahilas with 3 Sub-Inspectors led by Miss Shashi Negi, Asstt. Commandant of 88(M) Bn. CRPF. The Mahila Contingent will be followed by 101 strong men including 3 Sos of CRPF Brass band under the Command of Inspector Raj Kumar. The CRPF Brass Band was raised in 1961. The Band Contingent will be followed by a 144 strong CRPF contingent with three Sub-Inspectors marching led by Shri Manoj Vedrma, Assistant Commandant.

    Raised as the Crown Representative’s Police on July 27, 1939 and renamed as the Central Reserve Police after independence, CRPF is one of the oldest and highly decorated Para-Military Force of the country. This force has been in the fore-front of action wherever there has been danger from external aggressors or internal turmoil. From a single Battalion in 1939, it has now grown to one of the largest Para-Miliatry Force in the Country. It performs the onerous task of dealing with all kinds of law and order and internal security problems like terrorism, riots, strikes, insurgency etc.

    Briefing newsmen on the CRPF’s colourful participation in this year’s parade the DG, Dr. Trinath Mishra said this year’s contingents will march to the tune of CRPF theme song "SEVA BHAKTI KA YAH PRATEEK CRPF KAHATA HAI".
