KENYA SEEKS INDIAN TECHNOLOGY ON COMPUTERISATION OF LAND RECORDS

    Kenya has sought India’s assistance in transfer of technology on Computerisation of Land Records and Land Law Systems. This was conveyed by a visiting Kenyan delegation, which called on the Minister for Rural Development Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu here today. The Seven members of the Commission inquiring into the Land Law System of Kenya led by Mr. Paul Ndungu. Briefing the delegates, Shri Naidu pointd out that India has taken up an ambitious programme of computerising the Land Records.

    Shri Naidu explained to the Commission about implementation of Land Reforms in the country for the last five decades. The Minister emphasised on abolition of Jamindari Act, Distribution of Ceiling Surplus land, Consolidation of Landholdings and protecting the Rights of Tribals. He also briefed the Commission about various Legislative measures, Resettlement and Rehabilitation issues in the country.

    The Minister suggested the Commission to visit States, since land is State subject in the country, to see ground realities and the implementation of Computerisation of land records.

    Shri Mohan Kanda, Additional Private Secretary and other senior officials of the Ministry also took part in the discussion.
