NATIONAL COUNCIL OF JOINT CONSULTATIVE MACHINERY MEETS

        National Council (JCM), the apex body of the consultative machinery for the Central Government Employees, met today under the Chairmanship of the Cabinet Secretary, Shri T. R. Prasad. Senior leaders of the Central Government Employees and Secretaries of various Ministries/ Departments participated in the meeting.

        Shri Prasad drew the attention to the serious challenges, which the country faces in the wake of the December 13th attack on the Indian Parliament. He said while the country has resolved to deal firmly with the scourge of terrorism, it shall, however, put considerable strain on our economy. Shri Prasad also highlighted the need to quickly and effectively respond to the forces of change unleashed by globalisation and liberalisation, through changed outlook, new work culture and increased productivity, with a view to deliver quality services to our public.

        The meeting also discussed various issues, which are of importance to the Central Government Employees and affecting the interest of more than 37 lakh employees and their families, with a view to finding an amicable solution and ensure harmonious relations. A consensus was also arrived at that there would be concerted effort through mutual discussions to bring in the highest level of efficiency in Government sector with a view to meet the challenges of increased pressures of market forces, new technology and globalisation.
