    The Ordinance for amendment to Central Excise Act has been promulgated today after obtaining the approval of the President.

    It is only intended to make some changes in the excise duty of petroleum products without any increase whatsoever in the consumer prices of these products. The exact amount of the adjustment is being worked out.

    It is clarified that there is no proposal to increase the excise duty on any other good or commodity.
