MEDICAL COMMISSION TO WORK OUT MODALITIES FOR CONDUCT OF DOPE TESTS

    The Medical Commission appointed by the Indian Olympic Association to look into the issue of doping in sports has the following terms of reference:

    To work out the modalities for conduct of Dope test during Coaching camps, National level competitions organised by the National Sports Federations (NSF), Associations of Indian Universities and School Games Federation of India as well as out of competition at random. The Medical Association will also make available the list of banned drugs to the National Sports Federation (NSF) and State Olympic Association with an advice to make them available to their affiliated universities who will in turn circulate them to the sports persons. The list will also be made available to coaches in the National coaching camps.

    The Medical Commission will also advise Sports Authority of India (SAI) to make available the list of banned drugs to all its coaches, sports scientists and administrators of its centres. Training of personnel in collection of dope samples is another important activity of the Medical Commission.

    Educating people on the ill effects of consumption of banned drugs by sports personnel as well as using the electronic and print media for taking on the ways and means to enhance the performance of sports persons without the consumption of banned drugs are the other terms of reference of the Commission.
