NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON MODERNISATION OF LIBRARIES
The Ministry of Culture will organise a national workshop on modernisation of the library sector in the country on 5th January 2002. The workshop will be inaugurated by the Hon. Minister for Tourism & Culture Shri Jagmohan at India International Centre.
The workshop will deliberate upon – national library system, public library system and their future; electronic library network for rural india, national bibliographic database project and central libraries and the initiatives taken so far. The library professionals working in the area will participate to discuss the issue confronting the library sector and suggest measures that can be initiated by the Department of Culture to give a boost to the libraries in India.
There shall be five sessions in the workshop. Each session shall be taken up through a delivery of theme paper followed by open discussion.
