EXPEDITING CASES OF SENIOR CITIZENS
The Chief Justice of India has addressed the Chief Justices of all the High Courts advising them to identify and dispose of cases on priority basis in which persons above 65 years of age are involved. These include long pending cases of senior citizens, pensioners and retired Government servants on a priority basis.
The courts in the country are functioning under the directions of the Supreme Court and the High Courts. The direction of the apex court on prioritising the cases of elders is expected to result in expeditious disposal of cases involving senior citizens.
