SENSITISATION WORKSHOP ON RCH, NIDDCP & WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

    A two-day review cum Sensitization Workshop for the Heads of regions of the Directorate of Field Publicity is being organized by the Directorate of Field Publicity at the Indian Institute of Mass communication on 3rd and 4th January, 2002.

    The workshop involves review of the Publicity campaigns undertaken by DFP with respect of Reproductive Child health, National Iodine Deficiency disorder Control Programme. Pulse Polio Immunization and Women Empowerment during the previous year and also envisages to devise effective modes of communication to reach the poor and rural people throughout the length and breadth of the country.

    Shri Gautam Basu, Joint Secretary, Health and Family Welfare highlighted the relevance of interpersonal communication being carried out by DFP for educating the rural mass on various health issues as no other media goes from door to door in the villages. He was speaking on the inaugural function held this morning at IIMC.

    Smt. Roli Srivastava, Joint Secretary, Department of Women and child Development underlined the importance of utilizing grass root level communication for ensuring Empowerment of Women in the villages as it is the first time the Government has evolved a women empowerment policy. As it is a novel scheme she expressed the importance of the Directorate of Field Publicity with its nationwide network of publicity units in achieving the objective of the Government.

    Shri Sahab Singh, the Directorate General of DFP stressed upon the need to reorient the organization and to change the style of functioning and communication methods to suit the challenges of the new century.
