FUNDS RELEASED TO STATES FOR WASTELANDS DEVELOPMENT

    The Ministry of Rural Development has released Rs. 485.28 lakh to various States for implementation of Centrally Sponsored Scheme Integrated Wastelands Development Project (IWDP). In addition to this, the Ministry also released Rs.683.35 lakh to the five Districts of Andhra Pradesh and Rs. 38.10 lakh to Tonk District of Rajasthan, under Employment Assurance Scheme-Watershed Component of IWDP. The Districts of Andhra Pradesh are namely, Adilabad (Rs.155.83 lakh), Guntur (Rs. 18.80 lakh), Prakasam (Rs. 191.50 lakh), Srikakulam (Rs. 167.35 lakh), Vizianagaram (Rs. 149.87 lakh).

    The Department of Land Resources of the Ministry is implementing three programmes, namely, Integrated Wastelands Development Programme (IWDP), Drought Prone Areas Programme (DPAP) and Desert Development Programme (DDP) for development/treatment of wastelands/degraded lands under the Guidelines for Watershed Development. These programmes have components to develop/reclaim wastelands and degraded lands by checking land degradation and putting such lands to productive use.

    Under IWDP, the Ministry has released Rs. 97.31 lakh to Sirmour District of Himachal Pradesh; Rs. 49.21 lakhs to Udhampur District of Jammu & Kashmir; Rs.86.80 lakh to Vidisha District of Madhra Pradesh; Rs. 97.34 lakh to Raichur District of Karnataka; Rs. 32.95 lakh for Ringyang/Ramband Khola Watershed to West District of Sikkim; Rs. 24.15 lakh to Angul District of Orissa; Rs. 97.52 lakh for Tajpura Watershed of Arain Block to Ajmer District of Rajasthan.
