PM TO GIVE SCIENCE CONGRESS AWARDS TO 15 EMINENT SCIENTISTS
Fifteen eminent scientists will be awarded the Science Congress Awards by the Prime Minister at the inaugural function of the 89th session of the Indian Science Congress beginning here tomorrow. Prof. P.N. Srivastava, JNU; Prof. S.S. Jha, TIFR Mumbai; Prof. S.P. Dixit, Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU; Prof. A.S. Paintal, V.P. Chest Institute, Delhi; Prof. J.V. Narlikar, IUCAA Pune; Prof. G.S. Aggarwal, PRL Ahmedabad; Prof. K.R. Parthasarthy, ISI Delhi; Prof. M.S. Valiathan, INFA New Delhi; Prof. C.L. Khetrapal, CBMR Lucknow, Prof. R. Natarajan, AICTE; Dr. Manju Sharma, DBT New Delhi; Dr. Panjab Singh, ICAR New Delhi; Dr. Lalji Singh, CCMB; Prof. Goverdhan Mehta, IISc., Prof. S.K. Joshi, NPL, New Delhi and Midnapore Science Centre, West Bengal.
For the first time six-panel discussions at the Lucknow Congress on topics biotechnology, cardiac care, environment, health, future vision and science for school children. Sixty-five foreign delegates will be among the 5000 odd will be attending the science congress. The United States has the largest contingent of 31 scientists followed by UK, etc. There is no participation of Noble laureates this time.
