TOTAL SANITATION CAMPAIGN

    The Ministry of Rural Development has released an amount of Rs.567.83 lakh to the two districts of Orissa under Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) of Restructured Central Rural Sanitation Programme during the year 2001-2002. Khurda district received Rs.298.89 lakh and Bhadrak district received Rs.268.94 lakh towards the first instalment representing 30% of Government of India share of Rs.996.30 lakh and Rs. 896.47 lakh respectively.

    The Ministry has also released Rs.115.07 lakh towards first instalment representing 30% of Government of India share of Rs.383.55 lakh to North Tripura district of Tripura under the TSC.

    The Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) approach emphasizes on the awareness building component and meets the demand through delivery mechanism. School sanitation has been introduced as a major component and as an entry point encouraging wider acceptance of sanitation among rural masses. Under TSC, 200 districts have been allotted to States/Union Territories all over the country.
