RDCIS GETS HI-TECH R&D EQUIPMENTS

Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL)’s Research and Development Centre for Iron & Steel (RDCIS), Ranchi has been recently equipped with a number of sophisticated equipments to enhance its technical competence. These machines have been procured under the Steel Development Fund (SDF) programme for R&D by the Ministry of Steel. The move ensures the accessibility and availability of latest research facilities centrally to interested organizations.

Some of the equipment procured under this scheme are:-

GLEEBLE-3500C for process simulation.
Electron beam wide area analyser for accurate chemical analysis of specimen with utmost rapidity.
Particle image velocimetry for measurement of the flow characteristics of fluid.
X-ray diffractometer for qualitative and quantitative phase analysis of metals and non-metals.
Optical emission spectrometer for accurate determination of major, minor and trace constituents of various materials.
Spectrophometer for water model investigation.
Computational laboratory for numerical simulations in metallurgical processes.

The modernization of SAIL’s R&D Lab complex has been done in the larger interest of expanding the realms of science.
