RS. 8463.90 LAKH RELEASED TO RAJASTHAN FOR RURAL DRINKING WATER

    The Ministry of Rural Development has released Rs. 8463.90 lakh to Rajasthan for rural drinking water for the year 2002-02. The funds are meant for execution/completion of schemes to provide safe drinking water facilities to rural habitations and schools under the programme.

    Under Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission – centrally sponsored Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme (ARWSP) - normal programme, the Ministry has released Rs. 5566.58 lakh as second instalment against provisional allocation of Rs. 18705 lakh to the State. The present instalment was released after deducting Rs. 3785.92 lakh of opening balance of previous financial year. With this, Rs. 14919.08 lakh stands released to Rajasthan for rural drinking water.

    Under the same programme the Ministry released Rs. 2897.32 lakh as second instalment to the State to provide drinking water to Desert Development Programme(DDP) areas. Including the present instalment, total allocated Rs.5794.65 lakh for the programme stands released during 2001-02.

    In addition to this, under the same programme, the Ministry has released Rs. 19.62 lakh for Monitoring and Investigation Units of drinking water schemes in the state.
