RS. 4287.46 LAKH RELEASED FOR WASTELANDS DEVELOPMENT AND RURAL DRINKING WATER IN ANDHRA PRADESH

RS. 1908.78 LAKH RELEASED FOR RURAL DRINKING WATER IN KERALA

    The Ministry of Rural Development has released a total amount of Rs.292.44 lakh to three districts of Andhra Pradesh, under the Intergrated Wastelands Development Programme (IWDP) for the year 2001-02. Guntur and Chittoor districts get Rs. 49.50 lakh each as first instalment, and Khammam district gets Rs. 193.44 lakh.

    NABARD has extended a Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) loan of Rs. 3991.28 lakh to Karimnagar and Nalgonda districts towards Rural Drinking Water Supply Projects. This is against a total cost of Rs. 4710.80 lakh for the projects.

    Under the Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission, the Ministry has released a second instalment of Rs. 3.74 lakh to the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), Hyderabad for the project titled ‘Assessment of Ground Water Resources in Kodaganar Basin (Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu).

    The Ministry has also released Rs. 1879.50 lakh to Kerala Water Authority (KWA), as second instalment for the centrally sponsored Rural Water Supply Programme. With this, an amount of Rs. 5045 lakh stands released against the provisional allocation of Rs. 6331 lakh for the year 2001-02. For Monitoring and Investigation of this programme, the Ministry has released Rs. 29.28 lakh to the State.
