RS. 1213.50 LAKH RURAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDS RELEASED TO TAMIL NADU

    The Ministry of Rural Development has released Rs. 1122.00 lakh to the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. This is the second instalment of funds out of a total central share of Rs. 3740.00 lakh. The funds would be utilised for sector reform pilot project in Coimbatore to institutionalise community participation in Rural Water Supply Programme.

    The Ministry has also released Rs. 49.82 lakh to Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board. The funds are meant for the implementation of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) programme in four districts, namely, Kancheepuram, Namakkal, Karur and Virudhunagar of Tamil Nadu.

    Virudhnagar district also gets Rs. 41.68 lakh for Integrated Wastelands Development Project (IWDP), a centrally sponsored scheme.
