MORE WOMEN IN POLITICS AND POLICE JOBS WILL RAISE ETHICAL VALUES SAYS ADVANI
The Home Minister, Shri L.K. Advani today stressed the need for inclusion of more women in politics and police so that the ethical levels in these fields could be raised. He was addressing the 3-day conference on "Women in Police" in New Delhi today. The Home Minister said that the image of police and politics would enhance with participation of women and both the fields would be seen with respect in the society.
In the present time people generally hesitate to visit police stations, the reasons best known to everybody. But if there is a greater participation of women at these places, things are going to change for sure and victims will have a humane touch to their complaints.
He said though the country became independent in 1947 but there were still some impediments in the path of providing good governance and the major ingredient was providing security to the public. Shri Advani also said that women had a vital role to play in the society and announced that an annual conference of women cops will be organized every year by the Bureau of Research and Police Development.
The Conference, which was jointly organized by Delhi Police, British High Commission and Bureau of Research for Police Development has also resolved that women should be included in all training programmes including the specialized training in all modern weapons and gender sensitization.
