CENTRAL MINISTRIES ASKED TO PUBLICISE INITIATIVES IN NORTH EAST
The Department of Development of North Eastern Region has asked all concerned Central Ministries to issue instructions to the State Governments in the North Eastern Region and implementing agencies to give wide publicity in the local media to schemes and projects being supported by financing from the central Government. The move is aimed at ensuring greater transparency and dissemination of such information to the extent that it reaches ultimate beneficiaries. It follows observation of the Department that often people of the region are not aware of the centrally financed projects being undertaken in their area.
The implementing agencies of the Central Government/ State Government have also been asked to display at project site including roadsides boards indicating the date of sanction of the projects, date of commencement, likely date of completion, estimated cost and source of funding. The Ministries of the Central Government have also been asked to place advertisements in the local media on the projects and schemes being implemented with their financial support.
