JURISDICTION OF COMPANY LAW BOARD EXTENDED

    The Company Law Board (CLB) has issued a notification amending the CLB Regulations, 1991 to provide for extension of its jurisdiction to cover the newly created States of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttaranchal with immediate effect.

    The notification, issued under sub-sections (4B) and (6) of Section 10E of the Companies Act, 1956, seeks to insert after the words "West Bengal", the words "Jharkhand" in Serial No. 1 of the CLB Regulations. In Serial No. 2 for the column States/Union Territories, "States of Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Union Territory of Chandigarh" have been provided in place of the existing column. In Serial No. 4 under the column States/ Union Territories after the words "Maharashtra", the words "Chhattisgarh" has been inserted.

    The CLB Regulations, 1991 promulgated on May 31, 1991, has since been amended seven times, which includes the latest amendment.
