SYMPOSIUM ON PORT ORIENTED TRANSPORT

The Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), a PSU of the Ministry of Railways and a forerunner in multimodal transport operations, will host a day-long symposium entitled "Conquest 2002: The hinterland connection" on February 15,2002 at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road in New Delhi. The event will focus on Port oriented Transport mechanism and will bring together various agencies and end users of multimodal transport systems on a common platform.

The Symposium is being held at Delhi as Northern India is the single largest consolidated industrial belt in India and constitutes a vast hinterland for many ports in India.

The day-long symposium will give exporters, Custom House Agents(CHAs) and freight forwarders, located in the northern region, a chance to interact with various port authorities. Representatives of port authorities in turn, can use this platform to directly market the package of services offered to their customers and interact with them.

The Symposium will be attended by a wide cross-section of service providers in the shipping, cargo and transportation sectors. These will include: shipping lines, agents, port/customs officials, CHAs/forwarders, Non-Vessel Owning/Operation Common Carriers(NVOCCs)/logistics companies, financial and government agencies etc. Many prominent leaders in the field of shipping, ports and logistics sectors are expected to participate in the Symposium.
