HANDLOOM EXPORT PROMOTION COUNCIL’S XXII EXPORT AWARD FUNCTION

    The Handloom Export Promotion Council was set up in the year 1965 with prime objective of promoting exports of hand-woven products of cotton as well as silk and readymade garments. With the increase in the quantum of exports, the Council at present caters only to the exporters of cotton handloom fabrics and made-ups.

    The Council which started in 1965 with only 96 members, has grown over the years to cover the entire country with a membership of about 2000 members. Due to the efforts taken by the Council for promoting exports, there has been a leap in the quantum of exports from Rs. 11 crores in 1965 to Rs. 2127 crores in 2000-01.

    To encourage the exporters, Council has been giving awards to the top most exporters every year. At the XXII Export Award Function, the Council will felicitate 80 top exporters of cotton handloom products for the year 2000-01, on 12th Feb, 2002 at Banquet Hall, Ashok Hotel, New Delhi. Many of Award Winners have doubled their turnover during the year.

    There are 3 Categories in the Export Award Scheme of the Council (Category 1, Category II, & Category III). In the Category 1, one Gold Trophy for highest export turnover in COTTON HANDLOOM PRODUCTS, two Silver Trophies for the next two highest export turnover in the order of export performance, Ten Gold Medals for the next ten exporters in the order of export performance, having exports of atleast Rs. 10 crores, Ten Silver Medals for the next ten exporters in the order of export performance not less than Rs. 1 crore.

    In the Category II, one Silver Trophy to the exporter who have achieved highest per cent of increase in the F.O.B. value of exports of cotton handloom products over the preceding year 1999-2000 having a minimum export performance of Rs. 5 crores during 2000-01, and three Silver Medals to the next three exporters who have achieved more than 100% increase in the F.O.B. value of exports of cotton handloom products over the preceding year 1999-2000 having minimum export performance of Rs. 3 crores during 2000-01.

    In the Category III, one Gold Trophy to the highest performance of Deemed Exports during 2000-01, one Gold Medal for the 2nd highest performance of Deemed Exports during 2000-01, and one Silver Medals for the 3rd highest performance of Deemed Exports during 2000-01.
