SHRI ANANTH KUMAR SETS UP COMMITTEE TO EXAMINE GUIDELINES FOR REGULARISATION OF UNAUTHORISED COLONIES

    The Union Minister for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, Shri Ananth Kumar has announced the setting up of a committee to look into the existing guidelines for regularisation of unauthorised colonies, here today. The Committee will also examine the terms of reference for the implementation of Malhotra Committee Report - II. The Committee will be headed by Secretary, Urban Development. The other members of the Committee include - Vice Chairman, Delhi Development Authority, (DDA) Principal Secretary, Urban Development, Delhi Government, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD),
Chairman, New Delhi Municipal Corporation of Delhi (NDMC), Chairman, Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB), Chief Executive Officer, Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Joint Secretary, Delhi & Land (D & L) as Member Secretary.  Shri Ananth Kumar was interacting with mediapersons on the issue of removal of encroachments in Lajpat Nagar recently.

    The Committee will submit its report with its recommendations to Shri Ananth Kumar in two months.  The fourfold terms of reference of the Committee are: (i) examining existing guidelines of unauthorised colonies and to suggest modifications/amendments required so as to facilitate expeditious regularisation of unauthorised colonies, (ii) to suggest a cut-off date for regularisation of unauthorised colonies, (iii) to examine Malhotra Committee recommendation - II, as referred by the MCD and (iv) any other items pertaining to modification of building bye-laws and Master Plan norms.
