ANTYODAYA ANNA YOJANA LAUNCHED IN MORE STATES

    State Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Delhi and UT administration of Lakshadweep have identified Antyodaya families and issued distinctive ration cards to the beneficiaries. Allocation of subsidised foodgrains to the state of Lakshadweep under AAY was made w.e.f. December, 2001 and for Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi and Manipur from January, 2002.

    Under food for work programme, 11 States affected by drought/floods have been allocated 34.33 lakh MT of foodgrains comprising 23.06 lakh MT of rice and 11.27 lakh MT of wheat during the last year. Under Sampoorna Gramin Rojagar Yojana a quantity of 19.53 lakh tonnes of foodgrains has been allotted to 23 states and union territories till December, 2001. This scheme was launched on September 25, 2001 by the Rural Development Ministry.

    Under Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic) 20.53 lakh MT of wheat has been sold during the current financial year 2001-2002 by FCI. A total quantity of 41,59,917 tonnes of wheat has been lifted for export purposes by the PSUs and other Agencies from FCI during the last 12 months. The quantity actually shipped upto that date was 36,89,042 tonnes.

    A total quantity of 11,31,149 MTs of rice has been delivered by FCI to the exporters during the current financial year (upto December 24, 2001).
