STEEL PRODUCTION DURING APRIL 2001 - JANUARY 2002
The production of finished steel, according to a provisional estimate, has been 246.25 lac tonnes during the period April, 2001- January 2002 against 245.04 lac tonnes during the same period last year. The export during the period has increased to 28 lac tonnes from 22.55 lac tonnes during the corresponding period of last fiscal.The pig iron production during these ten months has also gone up from 29.23 lac tonnes during April 2001-January 2002 to 32.20 lac tonnes. Exports of pig iron during this period has gone up to 2.13 tonnes from 1.68 lac tonnes during the same period last year.
