The Vice-President,
Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat said that doctors and the public
should inculcate the confidence among the patients of neurological
disorders. He said that it is possible now to cure such diseases.
This will dispel the fears of the patients and will embolden them
with renewed confidence to fight such diseases. The Vice-President
expressed these views while inaugurating "Brain Storm 2002"
at India Gate Lawns today. He said that the resolve of the people,
particularly the children to sensitize the patients about this
noble cause is worthy of all kinds of help. "I wish them
all success in this great effort of public awakening", he
said.

Chief of NSC; Dr. P.K. Dave, Director IIMS; Dr. Agrawal, DGHS;
Dr. M.V. Padma, organizing Secretary Brain Storm 2002 and Dr.
M. Behari, HOD, Department of Neurology, IIMS were present during
the function. Dr. Agarwal informed the public that there are more
than 600 diseases associated with the brain on which active research
is going on, but the most common and most significant disorders
are ‘Stroke’ & ‘Epilepsy’. "There is no reason to panic
for, as there is treatment and these diseases can be cured, not
just by your physician but also by your knowledge about them.
But, you must remember that only a timely check will come to your
rescue, as early diagnosis holds the key to complete cure",
he added
The Vice-President
kick-started Brain Storm 2002 along with the children by releasing
balloons. He also unveiled two booklets for creating awareness
about common brain diseases.
