The Government had
sanctioned four lakh additional houses under the Indira Awaas
Yojana (IAY) for the super cyclone affected people of orissa.
Out of it, two lakh houses were to be constructed during the year
2001-2002 for which the entire central allocation of Rs.330 crore
was released during 2001-2002. For the balance two lakh additional
houses which were to be constructed during the year 2002-2003,
the Ministry of Rural Development has already released first instalment
of Rs.165 crore. The second instalment will be released only on
receipt of utilization certificates for the funds released so
far.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Rural Development, Shri
Subhash Maharia in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
In reply to another
question the Minister said, the Ministry had released the first
instalment of Rs.82.50 crore for construction of one lakh additional
houses under Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) for the victims of 24 flood
affected districts of Orissa during the year 2001-2002.
Based on utilization
of funds, the second instalment amounting to Rs.31.04 crore has
been released to 15 flood affected districts of Orissa. Proposals
for release of the balance amount have not been received from
the State Government.
