The President has
given his assent to the Imperial Library (Indentures Validiation
) Bill, 2002. With this, the Bill as passed during the ongoing
Winter Session of Parliament, has been notified in the Gazette
of India as Act No. 53 of the year 2002. This has come into force
with immediate effect.
The Imperial
Library (Indentures Validation) Act, 2002, seeks to repeal the
Imperial Library (Indentures Validation) Act, 1902, as it has
been rendered irrelevant. This also follows recommendations of
P.C. Jain Commission on Administrative Laws Reforms having suggested
repealing of the 1902 Act.
