The Proof and Experimental
Establishment (PXE) of Defence Research and Development Organisation
(DRDO) at Chandipur was presented the ISO 9001:2000 certificate
at a colourful function in Chandipur today. Major Gen PK Govila,
Director and Commandant of the Establishment received the certificate
from Shri S Chatterjee, Director, Electronic Regional Testing
Laboratory, Kolkata.
Speaking on the occasion,
the Chief Guest Mr. M Natarajan, Chief Controller of the DRDO
said that sea-beach of Chandipur is ideal for the proof range,
combined with the excellent instrument facility built up carefully
over past hundred years has made PXE a world class proof range.
He said that the organisation that is over hundred years old would
be having data that is priceless as far as the armament research
is concerned. The ISO certification will ensure that such data
is recorded and kept for future use as well as for use in other
DRDO laboratories, he added.
Major General PK
Govila outlined the quality policy of the establishment. He said
the establishment is engaged in assisting the development of armament
stores through dynamic testing by providing accurate data and
information as per user’s requirements.
Dr. Harihar Singh
Director of Armaments (DRDO) and Major General US Abrol, Director,
Vehicle Research and Development Establishment were among the
many distinguished persons who were present in the function.
Later the Chief
Controller inaugurated a firing point equipped with automatic
gadgets, which can record all most all ballistic parameters both
electronically and optically. These are required for research
in the field of armament, development and quality control. The
test firings can be controlled and executed remotely by observing
a visual display inside a blast proof shelter.
