Vice President Shri
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat welcomed the Turkish Parliamentary delegation
and said that both the countries share well-established Parliamentary
systems and have faith in secularism and democracy. In the Economic
field both the countries may cooperate particularly in the field
of technology. The Turkish Parliamentary delegation led by H.E
Mr. Bulent Arinc, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assemby
called on Vice President in Parliament House today. Deputy Chairman
Rajya Sabha was present in the meeting. Earlier, the Turkish delegation
visited the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and saw the proceedings
in the House. On behalf of the members of the House, Chairman
Rajya Sabha welcomed the delegation and wished for their fruitful
visit in the country.
Both the countries
shared common concern against terrorism in India and elsewhere
in the world. Both the countries felt the urgency of the concerted
action against terrorism. The leader of the Turkish delegation
said India is a peaceful country and this has been the approach
of India in resolution of all conflicts between India and Pakistan.
The Vice President said we hope the dialogue between India and
Pakistan will resume on the basis of Shimla Agreement once the
cross-border terrorism stops.
The Parliamentary
delegation will also visit Bangalore, the hub of the Information
Technology sector in India.
