Shri Rajiv Pratap
Rudy, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, has said
that traditional Indian therapies were very effective in the modern
context and projecting India’s capabilities in healthcare sector
would go a long way in achieving the goal of "Health for
All". While inaugurating AROGYA-2002 – an exhibition on good
health and living – here today, Shri Rudy said that Indian systems
of medicine were holistic in their approach and their efficacy
was being discovered increasingly all over the world. Smt. Malti
Sinha, Secretary, Department of Indian Systems of Medicine &
Homoeopathy and Shri Ranjan Chatterjee, Executive Director of
India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) were present in the
inaugural function.
Shri Rudy said
that to achieve the goal of "health for all" as enunciated
by the Alma Ata Declaration, there was an urgent need to rediscover
our age-old systematic therapies enshrined in the Ayurveda, Unani,
Siddha and other traditional systems of healthcare and medicine.
These systems have great scope for widespread application in the
present context with modern medicines proving to be prohibitive
in terms of cost and having long-term side effects, he added.
AROGYA 2002
