Three companies with
foreign equity have been permitted uplinking of 24 hours news
channels from India. These are; Jain Studio Ltd. (20% foreign
equity), Zee Telegilms Ltd. (57.54%) and New Delhi Television
Ltd. (16.47 %). The proposal of the Star News Broadcasting Ltd.
is under process. The Star News is indirectly wholly owned subsidiary
of Star Group Ltd. which in turn is indirectly wholly owned by
the News Corporation Ltd. Except Star News Broadcasting Ltd.,
all the other companies have their offices registered in India
and have Indians on their Boards. The Star News Broadcasting Ltd.
has informed that its Head Office is in Hong Kong and registered
Office in British Virgin Islands. The Company has three Directors,
two Americans and one Britisher.
