The Government of India
has signed and ratified the International Treaty on Plant Genetic
Resources for Food and Agriculture. This was stated by the Minister
of State of Agriculture, Shri Hukumdeo Narain Yadav in written
reply to a question by Shri Punnu Lal Mohale in Lok Sabha today.
The Treaty will facilitate conservation and sustainable use of
plant genetic resources for food and agriculture and the fair
and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of their use
for sustainable development of agriculture and food security.
