The Supreme Court
of India in its judgement of October 30, 2002 has permitted Kudremukh
Iron Ore Company Ltd (KIOCL), a public sector unit of the Steel
Ministry to continue mining at Kudremukh till December 31, 2005.
The Company is considering various options regarding the future
course of action including rehabilitation of the workers of KIOCL.
The Company,
during the last three years has separated 171 employees through
VRS. Out of this, 47 are executives, 15 supervisors and 109 non-executives.
This information
was given by the Minister for Steel Shri Braja Kishore Tripathy
in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
