EMIGRANTS GRANTED CLEARANCE FOR EMPLOYMENT ABROAD

Indian emigrants requiring emigration checks were granted clearance
to take up employment abroad since January 2001 to September 2002.
The clearance was granted by the 8 offices of the Protectors of
Emigrants across the country. Stating this in a written reply
in the Lok Sabha today the Labour Minister Dr. Sahib Singh said
that no country has turned hostile to Indian workforce and the
working conditions are not becoming difficult for the Indian workers.
He said that US $ 12,125 million (Rs. 57,821 crore) were received
from the Indian expatriates during 2001-02. The number of emigrants
granted clearance country-wise is as follows :-
