EXPORT OF RICE: ALLOWANCE FOR BROKENS WITHDRAWN
Government has decided
that no allowance for brokens will be admissible to exporters
of rice other than the operational allowance of two per cent.
This decision has been taken on the recommendations made by the
high level committee of FCI in this regard. The exporters were
allowed brokens of 16 per cent extra in the case of parboiled
rice and 25 per cent extra in the case of raw rice for purpose
of export.
As on June 30, 2002,
37.8 lakh tonnes of rice has been lifted by exporters while a
quantity of 46.9 lakh tonnes has been paid for. The central pool
has a stock of 219.37 lakh tonnes of rice as on July 1, 2002.
