INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHMENTS MANUFACTURING NUCLEAR FUEL, HEAVY WATER
AND ATOMIC ENERGY TO CONTINUE AS PUBLIC UTILITY SERVICE
The industrial establishments manufacturing
or producing Nuclear Fuel and Components, Heavy Water and Allied
Chemicals and Atomic Energy will continue to be public utility
service for another six months with effect from 26th
August 2002. These establishments were earlier declared a public
utility service under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 for six
months each from 26th August, 2001 and 26th
February 2002. The Labour Ministry in a notification issued here
said that this has been done in the public interest.
The employees in these establishments,
as a result, would among other things be required to give notice
to their employers six weeks in advance of proceeding on strike
so that conciliatory proceedings could be started. During the
conciliatory proceedings and seven days after their completion,
the employees cannot go on strike in these establishments.
