RELIGION AND LANGUAGE DO NOT MIX - DR.JOSHI TO URDU EDUCATIONISTS
The Minister for Human Resource Development,
Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi has said that it is necessary to keep
the religion aside for the promotion of language. Religion and
language do not mix and will neither help in the development of
language or the people speaking it. Dr. Joshi was addressing a
delegation of Urdu educationists who had a meeting with him here
today. The delegation comprised, Members of All India Urdu Educational
Committee headed by its Chairman, Janab Md. Jaleel Pasha. The
Committee had recently organised an International Urdu Conference
in Hyderabad.
Speaking about the initiatives taken
by the Government for the flourishment of Urdu, Dr. Joshi pointed
out the many fold increase in the allocation for the Urdu promotion
council and introduction of computer literacy in Urdu. He told
them that without proper education of science and technology,
Urdu will remain a language of Madarasas. There is a need to have
a dictionary of technical words in the language. Books in Urdu
should also be available in Devnagari for its propagation. NCERT
books will be available in Urdu also, besides in Hindi and English.
Janab Jaleel Pasha agreed with the
Minister that much more has been done and is being done for the
promotion of Urdu in India than in any country. As far as India
is concerned, Urdu is not a foreign language to it and India is
the only country in the World to have a Urdu University.
