JANA KRISHNAMURTHI ADMINISTERS HARMONY PLEDGE TO LAW MINISTRY OFFICIALS

The Union Minister of Law and Justice, Shri K. Jana Krishnamurthi administered Sadbhavana Day (Harmony) Pledge to the officials of his Ministry comprising Department of Legal Affairs, Legislative Department and Department of Justice, here this morning. The pledge reads :

"I take this solemn pledge that I will work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, creed, region, religion or language. I further pledge that I shall resolve all differences among us through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence."

The Sadbhavana Day Pledge is taken by all Central Government employees on August 20 every year since 1991. This day also marks the birthday of Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India, who was assassinated at Sriperumbudur near Chennai in Tamil Nadu on May 21, 1991.
