HAPUR
BYPASS TO BE INAUGURATED TODAY
The Union Minister of State (Independent
Charge) for Road Transport and Highways, Maj. Gen. (Retd.) B.C.
Khanduri today said that the construction of Hapur Bypass and
four-laning of Ghaziabad-Hapur section of NH-24 is a successful
example of Indo-Japanese friendship. Speaking at a press conference
here today, the Minister informed that it is a 33 km long project
(including four lane Hapur bypass of 12 km length) and has been
completed at a project cost of Rs.106 crore. The project will
be inaugurated today evening.
Gen. Khanduri said that due to
high traffic density between Ghaziabad and Hapur and the passing
of NH-24 through main commercial and urban areas of Hapur, a long-standing
need was being felt for construction of Hapur Bypass. In view
of this, Loan assistance of 4827 million Yen was tied up from
Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and the National
Highways Authority of India was entrusted with construction, management
and maintenance of the Project. The Project consists of one rail
overbridge, three major bridges, one flyover/Interchange and 16
under passes.
Galvanised steel guard rails
have been provided on both sides of Hapur Bypass to ensure safety
of the traffic as well to check the entry of cattle to the Hapur
Bypass. The railing will help in preventing falling down of vehicles
in case of an accident.
Signboards have been provided
using encapsulated lens technology and diamond grade retro-reflective
sheeting technology on the Project. This is latest technology
that provides best retro-reflection to the traffic. Specially
imported cold paint with glass beads has been used for pavement
lane marking and edge marking, which will provide excellent guidance
to the traffic during night hours. In addition, retro reflective
reflectors on guard rails and Raised Pavement Markers (RPMs) have
been provided to guide the traffic during night. All these measures
will ensure smooth flow of traffic and enhance traffic safety.
