MEDAL WINNING ARMY SPORTSMEN FELICITATED
General
S Padmanabhan, Chief of the Army Staff, felicitated six Army sportsmen
who won medals at the recently concluded 17th Commonwealth
Games, at a ceremony held at South Block today.
The
COAS inquired about their participation and experiences at Machester
and also the difficulties they faced while competing with the
sports persons from other countries. He assured them of full support
in terms of training, equipment and practice so that they perform
better at other international sports events.
The
Armymen who were felicitated included Major RVS Rathore – who
won two Golds, Subedar BL Dhaka - winner of a Gold, Subedar AP
Subhaiah - Bronze Medal, Nb Subedar Charan Singh - Gold and Bronze,
Nb Subedar Mahavir Singh - Gold and Hav Som Bahadur Pun winner
of a Silver Medal in Boxing.
A
total of seven medals were won by 8 Armymen who formed part of
the Indian Contingent that participated in the 17th
Commonwealth Games at Machester in UK.
